DIGITAL PAINTING DEMO CONTENTS:

DURATION: Approx. 60 min

STEP 1 – BASE COLOR – First step is to choose a base color for the color of the car.  This is the stage where you can experiment with color.  It takes time to develop your sense of color and try to match that of a reference photo or model.  Start off with trying to find a color through the color wheel and add that color to the bottom of your image.

STEP 2 – SCULPTING THE FORM – Once the base color is complete, we will cover techniques to sculpt the form of the car by applying a light source.  I will cover the type of gradation that is used to describe form to create a 3 dimensional effect.

STEP 3 – HIGHLIGHTS – Highlights will be applied in this section to bring the image to life and make the rendering pop out of the page. I will cover where to apply them and at what intensity.

STEP 4  – DETAILING – In this step, I will cover how to tighten up the rendering from it’s current loose state. We will zoom into the rendering and create the details to give it that extra amount of realism.

STEP5  – METALLIC PAINT – This is the bonus section. Now that we created a rendering that looks like the color of our model car, how do we give it a special treatment and go above and beyond to give it a metallic paint finish? These questions will be answered in this portion of the lesson.
